What's
new in dentistry?
We
believe it is important to stay current with the latest technology
in dentistry in order to give our patients the best possible dental
care.
Education
from CASEY:
Our
CASEY Educational System is an interactive DVD learning
environment that educates patients on every service that we provide.
Patients have a better understanding of our various treatments
and dental procedures when they are able to view each procedure
and read about it - all digitally.
Intraoral
Camera:
The
intraoral camera allows a patient to see the problem in
their mouths as the doctor explains the necessary treatment to
them. Today's patients are increasingly educated consumers. We
realize that patients do not just want the doctor to tell them
what their dental problems are-- patients want to see, and understand
them. An intraoral camera will reveal problems such as worn-out,
defective amalgam restorations, fractured teeth, decay, open margins,
plaque, etc. And the intraoral camera loads to an increased level
of diagnosis, due to it's 52X magnification.
Digital
X-Rays:
The
Schick Digital X-Ray System that is used at Kershner
& Trepper Dental Associates is a great attraction to many
patients. Instead of using the traditional silver-oxide x-ray
film that must be developed and then fixed in caustic and environmentally
damaging solutions, the new system takes pictures via a small
electronic sensor. Extremely accurate x-ray images will appear
instantly on computer screens, which are in each of the six operatories;
therefore you and the dentist can see the problem immediately,
and the usual wait for x-ray film to be processed is eliminated.
Estimates are that a person will receive ninety percent (90%!)
less radiation using this x-ray method. And, because patients
can visually see their x-rays as the doctor explains any problems
to them, they have a much better understanding of the problem
and treatment plan needed.
The
Diagnodent Laser System:
This
advanced technology allows us to find cavities where conventional
methods do not allow. Diagnodent not only finds cavities growing
outside of the tooth, but from the inside, leading to earlier
detection and preventative treatment!
